Gas Bag

Today we did an experiment with our class. We put vinegar and baking soda in a plastic bag and watched the reaction. There were lots of bubbles and it raised up a bit, then the bag puffed up with all the gas.

Balloon On A Stick!

Hey, Room 7 here! Yesterday we did some science, yay!
What we did was blew up a balloon, tied it up and then got a skewer. We had to dip our fingers in
sticky dish washing liquid, then rub it all over our skewer so that the balloon didn't pop when we put the skewer through our balloons. Next we get our skewer and stuck it through the strong part of the balloon, the top or the bottom  has no pressure on it, unlike the sides which are all stretched. Finally we twist our skewer or needle slowly around and pop it through our balloon! Make sure you get the  strong part here too and don't forget have fun at home with this cool trick anytime!

Technology Building

We are making an enrichment for a goat. We found an old pipe and Margaret our caretaker helped cut off part of the lid and then we stuffed it with some hay. When we take it to Natureland we will hide some food treats in it for the goat to find.

Cindy and Taila are making the other enrichment for the other goat....they have made a goat seesaw.

It will be cool to see what happens when we put these in the animal's enclosure

Natureland visits

We visited Natureland to see whatsome of the animals have in their enclosures and decide what sort of enrichment we could make for them. We are working in groups and at school we are making an enrichment for our chosen animals. Then we will take them back to Natureland and see what the animals think!

This is a picture of Ms Bankers holding the bearded dragon when we were there!

Here is a picture of  the Hectors Dolphins. They are the smallest dolphins species. They have a round dorsal fin, that we describe it as Micky mouses ear!Hectors dolphins are black and light gray.Maui dolphins are very rare. They are a type of Hectors dolphin.

Helen told us to never approach a sea lion or seal because they can attack people.Helen told us that we can find what they eat by examining their vomit and poop! Yucky!!!!
